WHEREAS, the U.S. Government has been without an ambassador since December 2012, the longest gap since 1927.
WHEREAS, a the U.S. Government is facing important foreign policy issues, such as: immigration, trade and controversy surrounding tax policies on American multinationals, where a new ambassador will be vital.
WHEREAS, John Richards has faithfully served the business, social and cultural interests of both Irish and Irish-Americans as founder and CEO of the Irish American Business Network.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the U.S. Government appoint, and the U.S. Senate confirm an ambassador to Ireland as soon as possible.
FURTHERMORE, We the undersigned urge President Barrack Obama to appoint John Richards the next U.S. Ambassador to Ireland.
