The US has named several national emblems throughout the years since our country begin 235 years ago. The Bald Eagle is one of the most recognized emblems. This petition makes the request to name a decorated war hero as the national dog. In honor of Sergeant Stubby(1917-1926)an American Pit Bull stray who participated in 4 offensives and 17 battles. He was injured twice, saved many lives and captured a German spy which allowed him to become ranked as Sergeant. He met with Presidents Wilson, Harding and Coolidge and received many awards and medals ranking him the most decorated dog of WWI. Stubby was a true emblem of freedom and proudly fought for the US. He would salute by raising his right paw above his right eye. His tombstone states: Sergeant Stubby Hero Dog of WWI A Brave Stray.
