Narcolepsy affects more than 3 million Americans. It is a rare neurological disorder that is caused from loss of a chemical located in the brain stem. There is no cure. Someone with Narcolepsy cannot control the sleep / awake and suffer from Excessive Daytime Sleepiness. 70% of people who have Narcolepsy also have Cataplexy. Cataplexy is a complete muscle loss usually triggered by emotions. Medicines to help maintain these disabilities come with several side effects.
