A petition for the President to speak directly to the public about climate change, with prominent climate scientists and researchers by his side and also speaking. These should include Jennifer Francis, James Hansen, Edward A. G. Schuur, Michael Mann, Robert Fri, and Richard Alley. Other well known personalities like Neil DeGrasse Tyson may be helpful too. Topics to be discussed should include: (1) permafrost meltdown; (2) Arctic sea ice decline; (3) sea level rise; (4) risk for sudden climate change; (5) positive feedbacks and the potential for a runaway greenhouse effect; and, (6) why it is absolutely necessary to bring greenhouse gas emissions to zero as fast as humanly possible and then actually remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
