We ask the White House to support an initiative requiring all 2 and 4 year colleges and universities to provide education regarding alcohol abuse.
One of the biggest issues that universities face every year is the rising number of incidents involving alcohol poisoning for incoming students. Unfortunately, a large number of these cases end up in fatality.
According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, alcohol poisoning causes more than 1800 student deaths. The majority of them are freshmen or sophomores. The main cause behind it is the sudden exposure to hard liquor that most of these students encounter when they enter college. Many of these young adults are ill-equipped to handle this pressure. Factors such as peer pressure tend to aggravate the situation for these inexperienced students
