National Indigenous People's Day

Created by Z.W. on October 10, 2016

We cannot be blind to the facts that are presented to us from history. Columbus is still celebrated in the United States as a hero who "discovered America." The average High School student knows this information to be untrue. The crimes committed against the Native people of our beautiful country were egregious and must never be repeated. We must ensure awareness is raised. We must acknowledge the facts. The culture of the different native peoples from all over the United States must be celebrated. Not insulted by holding a national holiday for the man who led the genocide against them. Please consider this petition to change Columbus Day to Nation Indigenous Peoples Day. Thank you.
