National Smart Gun Bill

Created by L.C. on December 21, 2012

Require all firearms sold to be embedded with passive RFID tags for tracking in public areas and spaces. All firearms would be classified as either "Smart" or "Modern". Smart firearms would be embedded with passive RFID tags. Modern firearms would include any firearm - handgun, rifle, shotgun or assault weapon that does not have an embedded RFID tag. Modern weapons would be allowed through licensed facilities to be upgraded. Any remaining modern firearms following a transition period would be elevated to the status identical to that of "machine gun" under the existing National Firearms Act. This bill would enable the early detection of firearms in public areas and spaces like schools and shopping malls vastly improving public safety while still preserving gun ownership.
