Over the past decade, gasoline and other petrol products have undergone violent price fluctuations due to foreign situations, particularly in the Middle Eastern region, which should not have to affect us at all. Due to this unprecedented dependence on foreign petrol from distant lands, the American infrastructure is constantly under threat. Dependence on foreign petrol has led to many conflicts with otherwise innocent nations, namely incidents such as the Chilean rebellion which brought Pinochet to power and killed President Salvador Allende. Through nationalization, we could fluctuate the price of gasoline at the People's whim and drill wherever on American soil petroleum is found, because monetary convenience would no longer be an issue. I urge Congress to consider this movement.
