Google, an American-based corporation, has announced that it will shut down a service used widely throughout the land, a service that Google had provided for free in order to sell advertising space.
I believe that President Obama should investigate nationalizing Google Reader and turn it into a public corporation. Presidents have nationalized vital public resources throughout our nation's history.
The public corporation could be funded primarily by ad sales, as is the current business model.
I believe that the President should take this step at this time to remind the corporations that when they create something that so many Americans have come to rely on, they can't just remove it without considering the effects on the public and the common welfare.
