Create a European-style public transit system that is easy to use and inexpensive. It is not uncommon in many countries to make cross-country, even cross-continental trips via the public transportation that is provided. However, in the U.S., such a prospect is rare, and often extremely expensive. By nationalizing the public transit system, specifically trains/rail, the environment will be cleaned up due to the lack of so many private travelers, the roads will be less crowded for the same reason, and the U.S. will be brought into the modern era, being on par with the rest of the world.
