Native rights have been taken advantage of for way too long. Their human rights have been ignored, and taken a back seat to the white man. Natives are the first peoples to colonize America; and as such deserve certain rights. Let me use Navajo as an example. Their water is contaminated with heavy metals because of mining operations, that is unhealthy to drink, or use for washing. Our government has long been aware of the condition of Navajo Nations water, yet refuses to remedy the situation. Earlier this year, we as a nation observed how quickly the government responded to the Flint, Michigan water, resulting in lead contamination. Please help Navajo in AZ and the Sioux in Standing Rock, North Dakota before another man-made disaster contaminates their drinking water for generations.
