Necrotizing Enterocolitis is an intestinal bowel disease that has a high mortality rate among our premature babies, yet doctors, physicians assistants, or nurse practioners do not inform you or even for warn you of this until it is happening to your child. I believe all parents should be educated on this, so they can be prepared that there is a possibility that their child could get it in the event that they are premature. This disease is one of the top 5 premature infant killers in the world, yet no one has ever heard of it until it is their child that is the one diagnosed with it, and could possibly die from it. It is our medical right as parents to know these things instead of being left in the dark about it, which is what happened to me.
