I recently was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and was given through my medical insurance a glucose meter that I loved. Less then three months I received a letter from my insurance that the test strips for the meter I just received are no longer covered.
My insurance did allow me to get a new meter at no cost, but I have had nothing but problems with it, and do not feel it is very accurate.
What I would like to see is if the meter and strips are close in prices, then allow us the consumer to choose which one we want, while the insurance still pays for it.
We should have the choice on simple basic things like this. I would understand if a consumer wanted a meter that was considerable more, but from what I have seen, my new meter cost more without insurance.
