Negotiate a compromise with Congress to fix the broken entitlement system by raising the retirement age, removing the cap on Social Security wage base, and raising the payroll deduction from 6.25% to 7%. No one wants to pay more taxes or have benefits cut, but a broad based combination of reforms can be made to stabilize the Social Security program. By combining solutions endorsed by the left with those of the right, we can come to a compromise that, while painful to both sides can save this essential program.
