In 1981 in response to excessive Demand, high inflation, high interest rates, high unemployment, and contracting corporate profits known as stagflation Ronald Reagan raised lower and middle class taxes and reduced taxes for the rich.
Today we have a deficient Demand Crisis, low inflation (2%), low interest rates (lowest in at least 40 years), high unemployment, and exploding corporate profits http://tinyurl.com/CorporateProfitsObama.
In contrast to a blind allegiance to Ronald Reagan`s perceived actions Ronald Reagan actually showed that he was willing to raise taxes in response to changing economic conditions (11 times). Ronald Reagan would see that our 2013 deficient Demand crisis requires a different macro-economic policy than the excessive Demand of 1981.
