During the past few weeks, we have seen that Assad is losing steam and is losing ground on all fronts. If it was a year and a half ago and this news came, there would have been cause for rejoice. The issue is Assad's losses are ISIS's wins, along with Jabhat Al-Nusra's. If the regime in Syria does collapse, which could happen in months, it will either be ISIS or Al-Nusra who will raise their flag over Damascus, two groups that hate the West. Assad is not a great guy, and the things he's done have no excuse. But even with everything Bashar has done, it is better to have him in power than ISIL. It's time to consider negotiating with President Assad for a peaceful resolution so we can focus on ISIL together. Because if Assad falls at the hands of ISIS, it will be unstoppable.
