Neutral Position Between Korea and Japan, Names of the Sea; Sea of Japan vs. East Sea

As a naturalized U.S. citizen, I am keenly aware of delicate position U.S. government is taking on dispute between two neighboring countries. However, I became U.S. citizen on a belief that each of us is entitled to express an opinion, when and if a certain policy appears favor one country over another. I am concerned that U.S. government continues to call the sea between Korea and Japan as the Sea of Japan. I understand it has been called Sea of Japan. Unfortunately, the Sea of Japan, when called by U.S. government gives an impression U.S. government favors Japan. I understand the State Department say US stays neutral. However, in politics and in diplomacy, perception matters. If someone calls Zimbawe as Rhodesia, one would conclude the person as a racist, colonialist. Same here!
