I am proposing the creation of the Consumer Health-Care Protection Bureau to provide the similar services for health-care consumers as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau serves financial consumers.
American health-care consumers need transparency on medical service pricing by individual physicians, medical group practices, hospitals, labs, specialty providers, medical equipment products and insurance carriers pricing of medical product fees and procedural fees for all types of medical treatment from consultation to discharge.
There needs to be one trusted entity that provides the consumer with the opportunity to cost comparison shop medical service providers, understand what is reasonable and customary costs, quality outcome metrics, rates of infection, etc, etc.
