I am an 18 year old man with autism who has demonstrated the proficiency level required from a high school graduate; however, I am unable to graduate with my class because the attention deficit imposed by my autism prevents me from receiving 24 credits in four years. I believe that this needs to change and people should be able to graduate through both testing and credits. I also believe that a test-based diploma should not be labeled differently from a credit based diploma. In other words, a GED should not be called a GED unless the test requirements are significantly lower.
