A special license for all assault weapons. I will admit that there are some who could make a case for owning assault weapons (I'm thinking of people on the border or in the country) Therefore, this license, which would be need to be justified by the purchaser, and always carried like a drivers license, would be a requirement for even possessing one of these weapons. It would need to be renewed every six months, and this renewal process would require a certified psychiatrist signing off on the gun owner's mental health and stability. If they don't sign off, the gun and all related items get confiscated (at no legal penalty and with reimbursement for the cost of purchasing the items). This way, people who want to own assault weapons can, and they will be kept out of the hands of maniacs.
