We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

News standards in Social Media World

Created by S.P. on November 13, 2016

If this election has taught us anything, it's that anyone can slap "news" at the end of their social media handles and be believed as truth by the majority. I want to call on congress to review the current laws and develop a strategy to ensure that only credited, fact-based outlets have the ability to somehow differentiate themselves from opinion-based or false facts that are pushed out the American people.

It's a shame that we have to do the "homework" for so many Americans who don't research the "news" or facts they share or believe, but we need do.

In today's digital age, there must be standards for media to meet before it can credit themselves as a resource to report to the public at large.
