Proposed changes to the military retirement system are an attempt to make the armed services retirement similar to corporate America. There is no justifiable way that they can be compared other then using a spread sheet comparison.
Civilian corporations and the military services operate and manage their operations in totally different environments. The comparisons are many:
Work in a dangerous and hostile environment: Civilian - No Military - Yes
Work knowing they may be killed or seriously injured: Civilian - No Military - Yes
Deploy or stationed away from their families for long periods: Civilian - No Military - Yes
Suffer increased rates of suicide incidental to their work: Civilians - No Military - Yes
