The government has decided to rely on the oil companies unbelievable assumptions instead of doing actual research and gave their completely inadequate plans the go ahead and the contracts.
U.S. Sec. of the Interior Ken Salazar said "people shouldn't worry, there isn't going to be an oil spill and if there was the oil company could clean up 90% of it. None of the oil companies agree with that statement. An oil spokesperson admitted as much this summer: "Because the on-scene conditions can be so variable, it would be ridiculous of us to make any kind of performance guarantee."
Together we can toughen regulations around drilling in this pristine environment and protect the Arctic once and for all.
