No Grandfathering of Existing High-Capacity Semi-Automatic Weapons

Created by R.P. on December 19, 2012

We the undersigned urge the White House through the Vice President in his capacity as the President of the United States Senate to promote the inclusion of language precluding the practice of grandfathering high-capacity semi-automatic weapons into any legislation that limits purchase or possession of such weapons.

Provisions should be made for existing owners of legal, but newly restricted firearms to participate in a reasonable federal buyback or surrender program.

Such a program would potentially be expensive. We the undersigned feel such a measure is needed to remove easy criminal access to the large currently existing pool of privately owned high-capacity semi-automatic weapons.
