A ban on "assault rifles" just does not add up. It is analogous to owning a sports car that tops a speed of 200 mph when the highway limits are 65 mph. Should high performance sports cars be banned? No.
Drug testing will be a better solution. Before any gun purchase, the regular background check must be completed along with an additional drug test.
Some may argue this will impede and slow the transaction. But it's a compromise that needs to be taken to ensure gun buyers are more than likely responsible adults. If we want to own guns, we should at least compromise to more responsibility.
The drug test should be able to be taken 14 prior date of any purchase, proper documents would be provided by a physician or respectable source.
