All pets should no longer be considered property under the law as they are living, thinking and feeling creatures who should have rights under the law for protection from abuse.
The buying and selling of such creatures is Slavery and as man has freed his fellow man now man must free his fellow creature who has given so much during our combined history that we owe them at least a modicum of respect and protection in recompense.
True, animals have some protection but are still considered property and have no civil rights even though they are in all respects children, though mute and cannot defend themselves. Please give them the same rights as children under the law.
