no longer hold any function or event (political or otherwise) in downtown D.C. during the rush hour.

My petition respectfully requests that President Obama cease hosting or participating in events located in downtown D.C. during rush hour. These events most often occur at hotels on 16th Street and K Street (the Hilton or St. Regis), which forces the Secret Service and D.C. police to block off several blocks while the President is inside. This causes major gridlock on the main thoroughfares through the middle of D.C. and a major commuter street to those going home to Virginia and Maryland. Many parents need to pick up their children from "extended day " school and/or daycare and as a result are often late, which can actually cost parents money for being late. President George W Bush had a policy that said he would not travel to an event in downtown D.C. during rush hour.
