No more "chained CPI" talk for Social Security. Instead, raise the FICA cap 3% annually from its present $113,700.

Created by J.F. on January 16, 2013

If we make it law that the FICA cap will be raised annually by 3%, we will be strengthening the Social Security Trust Fund's solvency and projected longevity, as well as addressing inflation.

This would lessen the call for such approaches as the "chained CPI" and means testing.

This one adjustment could go a long way toward making Social Security actually secure and settled, rather than a cause for conflict, anxiety and division.
