Since January of 2009, 15 year-old Malala Yousafzai has fervently advocated for her fellow children in Pakistan, especially the right of girls to have equal access to education in the country.
Through her in-person advocacy, blogging, and work in other journalistic efforts, Yousafzai has become a symbol of hope and progress to not only young women but people, in general, around the world.
On October 9, 2012, the Taliban carried out an assassination attempt on Yousafzai. Her head, neck, and shoulder were severely injured by gunfire, and she is currently being treated for these life-threatening wounds.
Throughout all this, she has remained courageous and steadfast in her advocacy.
President Obama nominating her for the Nobel Peace Prize would send a strong message around the world.
