In light of the untimely death of Antonin Scalia, there has been extreme anxiety over who his successor would be. With the Senate divided over not only who to nominate but if they would accept any nomination at all, there is a compromise candidate. Akhil Amar is not only a well respected Yale Law Professor, he's also very popular and a highly influential Constitutional Lawyer, having his work cited in numerous Supreme Court decisions. Although he is a Liberal, he also is a strong proponent of Originalism, just like Scalia was on the Court. Although Scalia's views did divide the nation, both Liberals and Conservatives respected his contributions to Constitutional Law and his fiery, yet popular, dissents. Amar will continue this legacy to keep the Founders relevant in future decisions.
