Atheists and agnostics are severely underrepresented in government. The Pew Research Center recently found roughly 23% of American adults declare that they have no religious affiliation making it the fastest growing segment in the study.
In order to make sure this significant and rapidly growing segment of the population is represented in government Obama should nominate an atheist to the Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by Antonin Scalia.
