We the undersigned urge President Obama to nominate Dr. Jeffrey D. Sachs as the next president of the World Bank.
Dr. Sachs has cultivated unique expertise over decades of work in sustainable economic development and poverty eradication.
We endorse Dr. Sachs' vision that "at its best, the bank serves as a powerhouse of ideas and a meeting ground for key actors who together can solve daunting problems of poverty, hunger, disease and environmental degradation."
It will take a leader with such a vision to successfully lead the World Bank in addressing the interconnected problems of the 21st century.
All who have signed this petition endorse Dr. Jeffrey Sachs as the next president of the World Bank, and we urge our political leaders and the World Bank Executive Directors to do the same.
