First and foremost, Vice President Biden is eminently qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice. During his thirty-six years as a United States Senator, he was Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee for eight years, and spent a similar period as its ranking minority member. Recall that some of our greatest jurists (Chief Justices Marshall and Hughes, as well as Justices Brandeis, Frankfurter, and Douglas) were never judges prior to their appointment.
Secondly, he brings almost half a century of experience at the highest levels of both our legislative and executive branches, providing a unique and invaluable perspective to our nation's highest court.
Finally, his distinguished service as a senator affords the best chance for a nominating process marked by civility and bipartisanship.
