WHEREAS the Papacy remains a symbol of the religious disenfranchisement of minorities, women, the young, the youngish, and the middle-aged;
WHEREAS the United States has failed in recent years to make appropriate use of its fiscal, military, and cultural capital to guide the selection of one of the world's most influential religious leaders;
and
WHEREAS Linda Koch Lorimer, in faithfully discharging her duties as Vice President of the University at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, has safely steered the ship of academia through the two greatest natural disasters to have befallen the institution in decades;
THEREFORE, BET IT RESOLVED THAT the President of the United States shall publicly urge the College of Cardinals to elect Linda Koch Lorimer to replace Benedict XVI as Pope.
