Obama claims to be a Progressive, and most Democrats stand behind him in this position. However his recent consideration of Republican Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval as a replacement to Antonin Scalia proves otherwise. This is not only a direct betrayal of the citizens who voted for him, and count on him to live up to his promises of change, but a betrayal of his self-proposed position as a Progressive. We have for the first time in decades a chance to turn the balance of power in the Supreme Court towards the needs and desires of the American populace. If unchallenged, Obama will simply turn from this opportunity, and secure a definitive victory for the Establishment on both sides of the aisle.
