Terri's extensive background in New York City schools, her aggressive advocacy for both students and educators, her strong defence of the public school system and willingness to take on the reforms needed to ensure all children recieve a quality education make her the perfect candidate. While her Union afflitiation might make for a difficult confirmation process, The fact that she is an openly gay woman who is proud of her Jewish faith would help quell the critics who complain about the lack of diversity in the current cabinet She has worked as a teacher legislative assistant, lawyer, and head of both UTF and AFT.
