The President has a constitutional duty to nominate a Supreme Court justice to fill the seat vacated by Justice Scalia. Waiting will only damage the country and undermine the authority of his office.
As President Reagan said "every day that passes with the Supreme Court below full strength impairs the people's business in that crucially important body."
Crucial decisions are made by the Court on Constitutional issues and interpretation of federal laws. They affect our lives in innumerable ways, on matters that include civil liberties, environment, gun control, labor rights, abortion, the rights and duties of corporations, and climate change.
President Obama was elected to two terms by the people of the United States. He should act and do his job.
