The American people have paid into Social Secuirty for years to help with retirement. This is a savings account workers have trusted the US government to invest their weekly deposits. And when the time is right pay each member a monthly return. Over the years Congress has been allowed to make changes to the original plan and have been allowed to borrow from the account (without permission from the owners of the account) Now some in Congress are trying to make Social Security appear to be an "Entitlement" that the US government is "Giving" to the people. Social Security belongs to the people and Congress should not be allowed to make any changes to the Social Security program without the consent of the people that have paid and those continuing to pay into the program
