Not allow congress to vote for their own raises

In the light of the recent decisions, or lack thereof, regarding the financial situation of the United States, I would like to call upon the powers that be to revoke the ability of Congressional members to be allowed to vote on their own pay increases. As being in a position of public service to the people of this country, by taking office through the approval given unto them through the voting process, those elected should not, and shall not answer to anyone but the people they swore to represent. . For a real world comparison, when most people are at work, they are paid based on performance, when they don't do their job, they are docked pay or fired by the one who chose to hire them. Never, has there been an instance where an employee has been allowed to give themselves a raise
