The current atmosphere of media-fueled paranoia and misinformation must not be alowed to direct domestic policy. Over ninety million lawful gunowners must not be punished because of the actions of a few deranged individuals. Prohibition of any weapons will not offset an epidemic of mental illness and glorification of violence in the media. In a society where there are four times as many suicides as gun related homicides, effort needs to directed at the cause rather than the symptom.
