to not allow employers to do consumer credit reports/ criminal backgrounds for employment consideration

Created by D.B. on April 06, 2013

As a former convicted felon who has over 15 years of retail, food service and customer care assistants, I find that employers are now discriminating against prior criminal offenders by using consumer credit reports/ criminal background check to determine if you qualify for employment. With this method of background searching, it allows prior offenders to be locked out of employment to later consider either filing for social service, (welfare) or committing a crime to return back to jail. I always thought that once you serve your time, you are rehabilitated to return to society as a productive individual, this is not the case, this is why we have so much unemployment. companies are using private agencies to do background checks which the agency decides, this needs to be revised.
