not allow religious organizations to legally discriminate against women.

Created by L.S. on March 09, 2012

Churches aren't people. Women are people. Women repeatedly report being denied medical treatment by religious employers who don’t trust them & their doctors to make such decisions. By law, all citizens have the right to medical privacy, and shouldn’t be required to petition their employer to approve each reproductive health issue. Religions are free to preach from the pulpit, but they shouldn’t be free to legally deny medical treatment through discriminatory laws. The 1st Amendment's Establishment Clause states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." Directly at stake are college students and working American women who pay all or a portion of their health insurance premiums. 99% of American women will use birth control in their lives. Women must come first.
