If Texas were to secede from the United States of America I would lose the federal assistance I get to attend college. Our homeless population would increase drastically as others lost federal assistance. I wouldn't feel safe, with no military power to protect Texas. A lot of businesses based out of other states would have to close or take a big hit because of the complications of unexpectedly becoming an 'international' business. But mostly I would really just like to be able to complete college. I know the original petition is being said to just be symbolic, but I really do not want to take any chances.
