Not Appoint Chuck Hagel Defense Secretary

We, the undersigned, call on President Obama not to nominate former senator Chuck Hagel as the next Defense Secretary due to:
His repeated opposition to imposing economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran in the interests of stopping their secretive nuclear program;
His consistent lack of support of Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East;
His stated opposition to the decades old trade embargo on Communist Cuba;
His signing of a letter urging direct U.S. negotiations with Hamas, a terrorist group committed in its Charter to the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews;
His disturbing comment that "I think it is an inhibiting factor to be... openly, aggressively gay... to do an effective job" and his disparaging remarks about the supposed influence of the "Jewish lobby".
