The Keystone Pipeline is a threat not only to numerous species of plants and animals that are in its path, as well as the over 1000 bodies of water that it will encounter, but a threat to our planet's sustainability. President Obama stated in his second inaugural address that he would respond to the threat of climate change and that response should start with the rejection of the construction of this pipeline. If responding to climate change is the goal, the United States should reject any further exploitation of the Canadian tar sands, reject the shipment of dirty tar sands oil accross the nation, and stand up for clean energy for the sake of our nation and our planet.
