Raising the minimum wage will create a rise in inflation and a new status quo where the poor are still poor and the middle class earn less when compared to a new higher cost of living.
The capitalist market determines what a person should earn based on their education, skills, work ethic, and term of employment.
The minimum wage is not the root cause of a family living in poverty, it is but a symptom. The root cause of poverty is past less then optimal choices that they made towards their eduction, skills, work ethic, and employment history; past failures that they are now are responsible for.
