Larry Summers has a well known history of favoring Wall Street interests over those of mainstream Americans. His recent service in the Obama administration corroborates the views of all those who believe his priorities are misplaced when it comes to serving the American people in the conduct of our fiscal and financial sector policy.
Further, Mr. Summers has a long-standing problem with women in positions of authority and has repeatedly made statements dismissive towards women. For the Obama administration to elevate Mr. Summers to this position, one that appears to have recently taken on an almost guaranteed longevity, will send an unfavorable and most likely damaging message to the women of this nation.
We urge President Obama to choose a well qualified and just-minded candidate.
