Recently, a petition calling for the Executive Branch to veto any new legislation banning certain firearms was apparently closed. We would ask for our voices to be heard as well. As responsible gun owners, we deplore the actions of evil and/or mentally deranged people who have taken the lives of others; nevertheless, the "knee-jerk" reaction of passing another Assault Weapons Ban would serve no real purpose except for making some people "feel" better. An AWB would not address the real issues behind the violence and would ultimately end in only disarming the very ones who are responsible, law-abiding and willing to defend their families, friends and their liberty.
