Larry Summers has a poor legislative record, he's not a team player and he is poorly respected in the wider banking community. He vigorously supported the banking deregulation that led to the financial crisis. He opposed laws designed to increase regulation over and safety of derivatives. He encouraged concentration in the banking sector that led to huge banks and huge banking problems. There are other excellent candidates, such as Janet Yellen and Stan Fischer. There's no reason at all to choose Summers for the position.
