Law enforcement officers once relied on low-capacity sidearms and shotguns, but they transitioned to high-capacity pistols and military-style rifles out of necessity to be able to properly defend against criminal threats.
Why should the American people have to provide for the police the means to protect themselves when you would deny the same means to the people?
If the police need such arms to confront even one criminal, why should the people have to deal with the very same criminal with means proven to be insufficient?
Semiauto rifles are used in less than 2% of homicides, and they were used more frequently in "mass shootings" during the last ban than since it lapsed.
